Not been on here for a while.

So yes as you can see I've not been on here for around about 2 months. What have I been doing, Well i've not done to much to be honest. I've had many thoughts about what to do for my final major project and although the deadline is approaching I am now getting somewhere. I initially has no idea what I wanted to do, but now I have taken an interest into typography and have tried to look at various artists.

Final Major Project

Well it's been a long time since I last came on here. What have I been unto, not a lot to be honest. I've had some thoughts about what to do for my final major project but

Examples of shots that I intend to recreate

This is a close up shot. To me this instantly draws me in not just because of the fact that it's a child that is in the shot (quite intense) but you don't know what this photo gives of. It seems very dark and grim which makes you want to ask many questions about how the child is feeling, is he upset? quizzed? a victim of a crime? happy? there's so many questions to be asked but no answer to them.
I want this to come across to my audience in the same way with my project, i want it to puzzle them. Obviously with my project having the filtered colours to signify which statement reffers to HFD. If i get a shot of someones hope and it comes across negativley I want my audience to ask the question that is within, and dig out the reason behind the answers.

This is a shot that is of further distant and to me doesnt give of the same effect as the other photo as i believe there is to much background space and it needs to be filled with something. Maybe if there was some text to go with it then you could imagine seeing this as a potential document that you wopulde find in a newspaper or on a campaign company but as it is its to open and seems wrong. It doesnt seem to intense. Maybe small things like a tear running down the mans face then that would make it more interesting as then you could have been given some information then you start asking questionsd that you want to know the answers to but because it doesnt and its shot from a further distant away it just doesn't have the same effect as the other photo pitcured above.

Hope Fear Desire #2

Over the past couple of weeks i've been thinking that the idea of the marrige proposal is not effective and a bit to long winded in terms of time consuming. The whole idea is a bit to complex and basic skills are used for the recording. No light settings have been thought about and it is just a steriotypical boy loves girl (visa versa) scenario. So i've thought of something that would be alot more effective and different. It's still a basic idea from a professionals point of view but in my opinion I think it will be a lot better than my original idea.
I plan to shoot this in a recording studio with lights availablke to cast some shadows (dark/light) in a ratio of 50-50. This will cover half of the clients face which should come across to produce a mystic effect, and an almost personal reflection of the client and their thoughts. I want to basically get each client to say only one thing that they hope, fear and desire. Then at the end say ''hope, fear, desire.'' For example.
Person in shot; ''Love ...... Betrayal......Happiness......hope, fear, desire.''
In ever shot that the client says their hope, fear and desire I am going to put a colour tint on them. Using semiotics to inform the audience as to which quote reffers to their hope, fear and desire. For example the shot that is to do with hope this will have a sunny yellow effect over it, fear having a red tint and the desire having a baby/duck egg blue tint over them. This will inform the audience and they will be able to pair up each quote with each segment.
I aim to get around 6-10 people to say their hopes, fears and desires as this would reach around the 1 and a half minute mark to 2 minute mark that I am for my video to be about.
I feel this will be a good piece of work as it is quite emotional as people are letting their inner feelings out infront of a camera with an intense lighting to help build towards the emotional effect.

Hope Fear Desire

In this unit we are to produce a three minute video that would be in reference to the title "Hope, fear, desire". The video has to include a meaning for each of the above.
I wrote down 3 columns each titled individually hope fear and desire. I listed down each column things that I could refer to under the titles. I came up with approximatly 8-12 different links between each of them. Ranging from religion to love to domination.
I cam up with a few ideas that I could use to produce my body of work around. The one that I found more reasonable and easy to understand would be around marriage. The outcomes for watching a marriage proposal would be;
Hope :- The person proposing hopes that the person will say yes
Fear :- The person who is proposing gets rejected from the proposal
Desire :- The longing build up to the proposal.
I thought this would be a valid idea to produce my work on, but I thought this would be a bit to basic just film two people sat at a table with the same shots being used, only difference one being that se will say no. Although this was not a bad idea I had planned in detail how each shot would come across, I even planned to make things more interesting by using multiple shots in one frame, using sound effects from TV series. A proper layout and specifically how the shots would be taken and how it would all come together.
     So on the other hand I have come up with a completely brand new idea. This will involve single shots of fellow classmates naming their hopes fears and desires. Each shot will be shot individually and i will use semiotics for the audience as they will know how to refer the hope fear and desire will be used in co-ordination to the colours. So for example, the red will Indicate the fear, yellow for Hope and blue for Desire. When shot there will just be a clear white light shining on the person in the studio. I will effect all the colours later on during the process of the edit. The idea on how it will be shot will be like this;
The person will say 1) their hope, 2) their fear & 3) their desire, Then at the end they will say "Hope, Fear and Desire" close the shot. Then the next person will come up and do exactly the same. This will be a constant running through. Hopefully I will get a mixture of responses, some emotional and some comical. For example a fear of "a fear of losing loved ones" then a comical response of "a fear of pigeons".

Experimental Video.

My experimental video I planned to make a visual documentary that would show the world in past 50 years from 1961 to 2011. I started of by pinpointing out the main things that i knew happened in the past 50 years then had to get a book from a tutor that had everything in it from the past 100 years. I wrote all these down and tried to find some archive footage of all these events so I could input them into my video. My video wouldn't include any actuall filming from a video camera from college, I was dependent upon all the archive footage.
Some of the footage was rather easy to get hold of, for example the assassination of Osama Bin Laden, 9/11 and July7th bombings. These were all within the past 10 years and sights such as youtube and various other sights held alot of the footage with them being new. Older footage wasn't so much easier to get hold of, i have had to trawl through the internet to find it then upload it to youtube so I could download it and insert it into my video. Some footage also was literally impossible to find, such as mandella getting released from prison, I could only find footage of him that a news channel had gathered.
This is my second description as i hope to make the video around dreams then one becoming reality. I plan to shoot them with a tint which people should instantly recognise and be able to. Once people see the semiotic they should be able to use their imagination as to how it will pan out. For example if the dream is of a clear bright colour then they should know its the good dream, if i used a red tint they should be able to recognise it's a bad thing.
